Privacy policy

This policy explains what we collect when you report a fault, why we need it, who can see it and how long it stays on the platform.

Last updated 4 August 2026

What we collect

Account details (name, email, role), the reports you file — photo, category, description, GPS coordinates and the suburb, city, province and country we derive from them — plus the comments and status updates attached to those reports.

We also record basic technical information such as device type and timestamps so the reporting flow works reliably on mobile connections.

Why we collect it

Location and photos are what make a report actionable for the crew that has to find and fix the fault. Account details let you follow your ticket and receive updates. Aggregated figures power the public area scoreboard.

What becomes public

The report photo, category, approximate location breakdown, status and timeline are public. Your email address and contact details are never published. Internal staff notes stay inside the triage desk.

Who can access your data

Authorised municipal staff and administrators handling reports in your area, on a least-privilege basis. Every staff action against a report is recorded in an audit log with a timestamp.

Retention

Reports and their timelines are kept as a public accountability record. Account data is kept while your account is active and removed on request, except where an anonymised report record must remain for statistical continuity.

Your choices

You can request a copy of your data, correct your details, delete your account or ask us to take down a photo you submitted. Photos are compressed and stripped down before upload, and you can always describe a fault without including people in frame.

Requests can be sent to privacy@communitylove.app.
