Who we are

Making Africa a better place, one report at a time

We are a team driven by a single purpose: to use information technology to build technology that matters. PublicLens turns the things people see on their streets into data cities can act on — and rewards the residents who make it happen.

Our mission

To build technology that matters. We believe the fastest way to improve public services is to give everyone — residents, officials, journalists and community groups — the same accurate, real-time picture of what is broken, where, and how fast it is being fixed. When information flows, accountability follows.

The people behind it

Built by Siphiwe Mabusela and a team of stars

Siphiwe Mabusela

Founder & Lead

Siphiwe started PublicLens with a simple belief: the right information, in the right hands, at the right time, can reshape a city. He leads product, strategy and the team of stars turning that belief into working software across Africa.

The Stars

Engineering, Design & Operations

A small, distributed crew of designers, engineers, data researchers and community liaisons. We build, verify, ship and listen — then do it again the next day.

How we work

The principles that guide us

People first

Every line of code, every report field and every dashboard metric is judged by one question: does it make life better for a resident?

Open by default

Fault data, area scores and tender pipelines are public. Transparency turns complaints into shared accountability.

Technology that matters

We don't build toys. We build tools that close potholes, restore lights, collect waste and speed up the repairs people depend on.

Trust through evidence

A photo and GPS pin back every report. Verified facts protect residents, staff and the public record.
